Macular Degeneration Trial Completed

Sheltowee recently completed a study of 103 patients with age-related macular degeneration between the ages of 46 to 90 years of age who are taking Ocuwel. The patients have been on the product for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 4 years. Of the patients 66 were female and 37 were male. Average age was 75 years. The average consumption was 2.3 tablets (2300 mg) of Ocuwel per day. This is the equivalent of 1 ounce of fresh spinach. Each person had been diagnosed with age related macular degeneration by an ophthalmologist who prescribed Ocuwel spinach tablets for their condition.

In February of 1999 each patient was assessed with respect to how their vision had changed during the period of treatment on Ocuwel.  Did their vision improve, stay the same or get worse?  The following are the study results:
